What is Acupoint?
How we got here
Located in Palma de Mallorca, Acupoint is a centre specialized in acupuncture and other alternative therapies. It was created with the purpose of bringing together Chinese culture and its medicine to the citizens of the Balearic Islands, so they can benefit from its advantages and improve their quality of life naturally, without any kind of side effects.
My name is Si wen Chen Sun and I trained myself professionally at the University of Lleida, earning a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Subsequently, I completed a Master's degree in Bioengineering at the Institut Químic de Sarrià. After six years immersed in the world of basic sciences, I realized that I wished to help people more directly, rather than working behind a laboratory desk.
I have always felt — and continue to feel — a special interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This passion, combined with my eagerness to help others, motivated me to change the course of my career by pursuing a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at ISMET. I then traveled to my home country, China, where I spent a year studying and practicing TCM in various hospitals in the beautiful city of Hang Zhou.
With the creation of Acupoint, my goal is to help apeople discover and benefit from all that Traditional Chinese Medicine has to offer, providing personalized and appropriate treatments tailored to each patient's unique needs.
I am here for any questions, concern, or assistance that you may need regarding Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The services we offer
Today, we live increasingly hectic lives. At Acupoint, we offer a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques, each carefully tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual. Discover how we can help you achieve great balance — both physically and mentally.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a technique that originated in China and has been used for millenia. It involvers the insertion of thin, disposable, and completely sterile needles into specific points onthe body to help restore the body's natural balance.

Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture involves stimulating acupuncture points by applying a small electric current through the inserted needles. This method helps enhance and amplify the effects of traditional acupuncture.

Cupping
Cupping involves the use of glass or plastic cups that create suction on the skin and underlying muscles. The goal is to boost local blood circulation and stimulate specific points. Among its many benefits, muscle relaxation and the rebalancing of the body stand out.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a therapeutic method recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It consists of applying heat from a moxa stick — made from dried and ground leaves of the Artemisia vulgaris plant — to specific areas. Moxibustion is particularly beneficial for chronic pain and internal imbalances.

Auriculopuncture
Auriculopuncture is based on stimulating reflex zones found on the ears using seeds, small pins, or fine needles, helping to restore balance throughout the body.

Cosmetic acupuncture
Originally practiced by the nobility and empresses of ancient China, cosmetic acupuncture combines both prevention and care. Today, it is sometimes referred to as the natural alternative to Botox. Cosmetic acupuncture aims to rejuvenate the face and regulate the body's internal balance, helping to slow the signs of aging.

Q & A
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an acupuncture session consist of?
A session typically includes acupuncture, followed by other alternative therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, or others, depending on each patient's needs.
How long does a session last?
Sessions usually last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
The first session may take longer, as it includes a thorough examination of your health and condition.
Is acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture is not generally painful.
Sensation depends on the area where the needle is inserted — the hands, feet, and extremities tend to be more sensitive.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person responds differently to acupuncture. However, we generally recommend a minimum of three sessions to experience substantial benefits.
When will I feel the effects?
The effects of acupuncture are cumulative.
The first treatment may offer relief for a day or two. As you continue with the second and third sessions, the effects grow stronger and longer-lasting.
The shorter the time between sessions, the faster you will notice results.
We recommend at least one session per week — and in more severe cases, two sessions per week.
What should I feel once the needles are in?
You may feel sensations such as swelling, heaviness, or a mild tingling (called paresthesia) at the point of insertion — but you should never feel pain.
Does acupuncture have any side effects?
No, acupuncture is considered one of the safest therapeutic practices, with no major side effects.
Occasionally, a small capillary under the skin may be punctured, causing a minor bruise. This usually disappears within two to three days.
